| Quillwork is a beautiful enhancement to your wedding, birth, or graduation announcements. There are many patterns and Kits available commercially. However, It's easy to create your own designs. Try making up several flowers and leaves in the same colors and style that were used in the wedding. You could quill small bells, doves, fans, or anything you feel is appropriate. Ribbons, small pearlized beads, cut-outs from other wedding papers (maybe a bird from a placement card), small rings and other pretty things can also be added. Use an extra invitation or a good copy of yours, so that the final one doesn't get dirty or wrinkled. Lay it on your workspace, arrange and re-arrange your quilled pieces (without gluing them down) until you like your design. (I like to take a picture of my practice piece to use as a placement pattern for my final piece). Perhaps you would rather design a simple yet elegant white or ivory border over a precut mat in the wedding colors for the bride and groom to frame their own invitation. Make up some smaller pre-cut mattes with similar designs to frame the wedding pictures, these make a wonderful accompaniment to the invitation piece. There are so many possibilities! Have fun with it! |
